BIOGRAPHY

It all began with a play. An original musical, produced by Televisa and written by Martha Zavaleta and Pedro Damián, with music by Eugenio Castillo, directed by Pedro Damián “La Maravilla de Crecer (The Wonder of Growing Up)” was the platform from which 5 talented children would emerge, and soon after would be complemented with one more boy, to become a group of 6.

After two years of artistic preparation, with ballet, jazz, music, singing, piano and all performing arts classes, in addition to the dedication and hard work of the entire team that gathered to support them, they were finally presented as a group at a Televisa special event, in front of the then President José López Portillo.

The following Friday, a Timbiriche special show was aired, where all the songs from their first album were presented. With the extraordinary hand of Miguel Bosé as their godfather, finally on April 30, 1982 Sasha, Benny, Mariana, Diego, Alix and Paulina jumped to the national television stage, in an iconic Sunday program.

And so Timbiriche was born, a unique musical group that soon became the musical phenomenon of a whole generation, transcending borders of space and time.

The charisma and personality of six children between 9 and 12 years old, attracted the attention of the public of their age and the elderly, immediately becoming a role model.

Their first album was entitled Timbiriche, produced by Memo Méndez Guiú and immediately, Timbiriche, El Gato Rockanrolero, Hoy tengo que decirte Papá and a medley of Cri-cri’s songs, became their first hits.

shows, tours, concerts, recordings, radio and television programs, and the invitation to appear at an event on the ABC television network, where they sang for its top executives the song New York, New York. Thaht song was never recorded, but was the framework in which the second album, entitled La Banda Timbiriche was released in 1983 produced by Miguel Bosé and Enzo Felizatti. From this acetate arose: Ojos de miel, La vida es mejor cantando, Sólo tu-sólo yo, Rocococanrol, México and the theme for the soap opera, Chispita.

To reinforce the promotion of the album, they filmed a tv special show for channel 2, and released their 3rd album: La Banda Timbiriche en Concierto, with covers of songs in English. Two very important people participated in this special: Luis Enrique and Alejandra Guzmán.

Towards the end of that same year, Timbiriche was enriched by the incorporation of Erick Rubín, who managed to join the group immediately.

Already with Erick, Timbiriche recorded their fourth album: La Banda Timbiriche: Disco Ruido, with hits like Disco ruido, Adiós a la escuela (written by Diego), Como tú and Rock del manicomio (written and composed by José María and Nacho Cano), among others.

In 1984 Timbiriche had managed to become the favorite for adults and children and that was when Julissa produced Vaselina (Grease), with them as part of the cast. The success was resounding, and was a constant sold out. The identification was total and that was from where their fifth album Vaselina (Grease) was released, including all the songs of the musical that opened a gap in the theater in Mexico, placing it as a first level show.

Vaselina kept on going for two years, with daily sold outs, receiving recognition plates for their 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 and 600 performances, including a tour.

In 1985, with the maturity and theatrical experience, the success in television, radio, tours and live shows, Timbiriche transcended a new stage of youth becoming teenagers, with a true musical explosion and a breaking point with the release of their sixth album, with songs such as: Soy un desastre, Mi globo azul, Vivirás, Ven ven ven and Concierto de rock, among others, and with which music in Spanish began to invade discotheques that, until then, played only music in English.

In September 1985, Benny left the group to go to the United States to continue his studies in his profession as an artist, and was replaced by Eduardo Capetillo. His admission coincided with the recording of a spectacular Christmas tv special.

After a break and after negotiations with the record company, they renewed their contract, Melody and New Generation activities were limited and finally, in early 1986, they released their seventh album, in which Eduardo recorded a song called No seas tan cruel.

Timbiriche Rock Show became the anthem of youth and from this success, great hits emerged, such as: Corro, vuelo me acelero, Me plantó and Soy un desastre. From that moment, the young people who had grown up with Timbiriche and also older generations, became the mass audiences of this unique phenomenon.

Finally, on March 17, 1986, the Band began a tour through Argentina, causing a commotion among "the piberío" and placing the song Corro, vuelo me acelero among the first places of popularity. They were invited to Radio Argentina, where they told the listeners about their trajectory, in which they already had 6 full-length albums, they had experience in theater performing and all the stages they had stepped on. Also, they participated in the programs Sábados de la Bondad and Primerísima de la canción, where the audience responded much better than they expected. Upon their return to Mexico, they gave a press conference in which each one gave their impressions about the experience called Argentina.

In the month of June, Timbiriche received a Gold Disc for more than 100,000 copies sold from their album Timbiriche Rock Show.

Sasha, the favourite, leaves Timbiriche

In September, Sasha decides to go her own way and leave the group to go to the United States to prepare herself, to later become the most acclaimed young soloist.

Sasha was replaced by Thalía Sodi Miranda, who was soon accepted by all the members and by the fans that soon made her one of their favourites, when a year later, she co-starred the soap opera QUINCEAÑERA, next to Adela Noriega.

At the beginning of October she made her first tour with Timbiriche, performing in Coahuila, Zacatecas and Toluca.

By the end of the year, Timbiriche shared the stage with Flans, Pandora, Marisella, Yuri, Los Bukis, among others, in the tv show Los 15 Grandes de Siempre en Domingo. The song Corro, vuelo, me acelero positioned them among the most popular in all of youth music broadcasters. Martha Zavaleta (Diego’s mom) was in charge of delivering the prize and praised them for the achievements of that year and for the fruitful 4-year career.

In November 1986, Timbiriche Rompecabezas or Timbiriche 7, as well as the video clips, were ready. The official release of this album was made in February 1987, with the single Mírame or Cuestión de tiempo, performed by Alix.

The public's reaction to this album was impressive, hits like: Besos de ceniza, Con todos menos conmigo, Si no es ahora, Mágico amor, No seas tan cruel and of course, Mírame, were some of the songs that Mexico and the rest of Latin America sang during that year. They sold more than one million copies and their presence was required in the countries where they were seen as youth icons.

From that moment on, they began to be considered individually as singers, without losing the concept of "group." In addition to presenting their new concept in music, the voices of the new members, Eduardo and Thalía, could be appreciated.

They promoted the album throughout the Mexican Republic and went on tour performing live in Central and South America. Their videos continued to be requested in programs such as Video Éxitos, conducted by Gloria Calzada, and TNT, conducted by Martha Aguayo and Angélica Rivera, and their presence was required in all variety programs of the moment: Siempre en Domingo, XE-Tú, Estrellas de los 80's, El Mundo del Espectáculo, among others.

For a second year, Timbiriche received the award Los Grandes de Siempre en Domingo. Sasha, now as soloist, was in charge of giving them the award. It was an emotional reunion between Timbiriche and her. Alix, on behalf of the Band, said to be very happy that people got the message that the song Mírame was sending to young people: “When it’s time to love or for other important things in life, it only takes time and the will to understand each other, and I think age is no impediment to anything.”

Mariana says goodbye to Timbiriche

In December 1987, Timbiriche performed a concert at the Premiere show center, to say goodbye to another of the band's founders: Mariana. After 5 years, she left the group to engage in acting.

At the beginning of 1988, the group's consistent success reached a climax with the releasing of the double album TIMBIRICHE VIII AND IX, and it’s first single, Tú y yo somos uno mismo. It was a real musical revolution and, without a doubt, a surprise in the field of young music, not used to the existence of double records of their favorite genre. However, and to the astonishment of the skeptics, young fans, knowing about the quality and professionalism of the group, went to the stores to turn this production into an immediate gold record, selling more than 200 thousand copies. This was something never seen before in the Latin American record industry, since it was a double album.

Edith Márquez: The New Timbiriche

The revolution of Timbiriche VIII and IX was on going and this release served as platform to present a new member: Edith Márquez.

Her career began in the third festival Juguemos a Cantar with the artistic name of Heidi. She participated in three seasons of Vaselina (Grease) and was part of the television series Papá Soltero next to César Costa.

The replacement of Mariana could have created problems of acceptance among their fans, but Edith said it was not like that: “The fans have accepted me very well, they are great. I'm already singing Besos de ceniza, the song that Mariana interpreted and I've been treated very well, which makes me quite happy. It means that the effort you put into a show is not in vain.”

Timbiriche was not only a trend but the result of years of a tireless search, that had culminated in the identification with the language of their young fans. Timbiriche sang what the young people were feeling, and adults refused to recognize, because they were children. It was a meeting point, a dialogue beyond words, visual effects and a highly sophisticated sound.

In this last album, Timbiriche changed the way people saw them, with the song Tú y yo somos uno mismo, which revealed them as teenagers who could also love and give themselves completely to that feeling they were beginning to discover. To promote that song, in the first months of the year, a video directed by Eduardo, was produced and it marked his debut in that facet. The song exceeded all expectations and remained in the first places for more than 48 weeks, both the music and the video on VH1.

Alix says goodbye to Timbiriche

By the beginning of November 1988, one of the founders of this Band said goodbye to the group: Alix. Without her, the Band continued with the tour of VIII and IX, that led them to perform in Central America and other states of Mexico.

On December of that year, five songs were within the 15 most popular songs on the radio, and also, monopolizing the first two places, Timbiriche was consolidated as the best of 1988. Their hits Tú y yo somos uno mismo, Ámame hasta con los dientes, Yo no sé si es amor, Acelerar and Me estoy volviendo loca, they were breaking all records in the modern music radio stations and in the stations that broadcasted varied music. The members of the group were seen as youth idols and their fame reached many Spanish-speaking countries, where fans claimed their presence.

The successes achieved by Timbiriche in the season that was ending, merited an international effort. The double album TIMBIRICHE VIII Y IX with 21 songs of strong musical impact and a clear trend towards a more refined and energetic rock style, was on the market.

The group made a great impact with its spectacular shows with sound equipment and laser beams and a clear rock rhythm, in addition to making a triumphant tour throughout Mexico, Central and South America.

For the third consecutive year, they received the award to Los 15 Grandes de Siempre en Domingo. Only Erick, Thalía, Diego, Edith and Eduardo showed up this time, and sang their greatest hit, Tú y yo somos uno mismo.

The path traveled in only 6 years was long, faithfully reflecting the ways of a youth that had grown along with them, from childhood to adolescence. Being a launching pad for artists who gave much to talk about, Timbiriche also were role models for many young artists.

Their discipline, commitment and professionalism, contrasted with their joy, magic and youthful effervescence that could be felt in all their performances, setting a model of artistic performance that would be required in the years to come.

Timbiriche was a hit wherever they performed; daily, they renewed and reinvented themselves because they were based on the dreams of youth.

Seven years after their first show at Mexico City’s Theater, Timbiriche had become a classical band of modern music.

To close the eighties, they made a spectacular record release: Timbiriche's classic hits accompanied by symphonic music, a new concept of Pop-rock. It was an ambitious project on a different album, in which Benny, Sasha and Mariana and the current members of the group participated, accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of Mexico City.

In less than six months they placed five songs in the hit lists and stayed for 15 weeks in the first places of popularity, selling more than one million copies.

Among the songs, there were: Timbiriche, Hoy tengo que decirte papá, El gato rockanrolero, Mágico amor, Con todos menos conmigo, Rompecabezas, Si no es ahora, Mírame, Besos de Ceniza, Ven ven ven, No seas tan cruel, Soy un desastre, Corro vuelo me acelero, Juntos, México, La Banda Timbiriche, La vida es mejor cantando, Sólo tú sólo yo, and the original song Por ti, performed by Paulina, Edith, Erick, Diego, Alix, Thalía and Eduardo.

The new Timbiriche: Biby Gaytán

In February 1989 Biby joined the Band, replacing Alix.

In addition to the presentation of the album, and of the new Timbiriche, there were plans for producing disc number ten, with original songs. Timbiriche was like that, for them everything changed, transformed and continued to evolve to accelerate a whole rock generation that grew and had fun with them.

Thalia and Eduardo leave the Band

On July 1989, the departure of two more members of Timbiriche was confirmed, first Thalia and then Eduardo.

In 1990 Timbiriche was living decisive moments: three members who achieved great fame left the group and three new elements arrived, that would come to shake the Band. Be renewed or die, it seemed like their motto. They knew it well and it was the reason for their new image.

There were four elements that were already fully recognized by the fans: Paulina, Diego, Erick and Edith. Three left: Alix, Thalía and Eduardo. Their places were occupied by Bibi, Patty and Claudio. The challenge was very difficult, because they came to fill the spaces left vacant by some of the most popular members of Timbiriche in its history. And the band kept going, with their tenth album, after two years of not recording.

Their new album was meticulously planned in order to present to their audience a more complete, more evolved and high quality sound. And they really succeeded, the results couldn’t have been better.

The first three singles Me pongo mal, Princesa Tibetana and Historia de amor, reached the top places of popularity and contracts poured for them. But the question still continued: Could they regain success? Would the new elements work? Would the fans accept them well? Would there be Timbiriche for longer?

The new members spoke

Patty Tanús commented that it was necessary to seek innovation, change, transformation. Different voices were integrated, and the fans would love to see new faces.

Biby Gaytán thought that the fans liked their new songs and with live performances they would realize how much they had prepared to get to that moment.

Silvia Campos, the new Timbiriche

The departure of Patty Tanús from Timbiriche, made it possible for the fans to discover a beautiful seventeen-year-old girl, Silvia Campos.

Paulina, Diego, Erick and Edith remained as pillars. More mature than ever and artists with the same old talent.

It is important to mention that the production of Timbiriche 10 lasted for six months. Timbiriche returned with new material that struck us for the excellence of its production, versatility and professionalism. They returned with more strength than ever, and with the certainty of being able to please the most demanding fans.

It is true that certain groups are born with an angel. Timbiriche was born with a star.

During that year, Timbiriche recovered, for the most part, the popularity lost during 1989. Songs like Yo no soy una más, Sacúdete, Eres un milagro, Cómo te diré, among others, became the favorites of the fans. This was proved by a platinum disc for more than 500,000 copies sold. Timbiriche 10 was the third most important production of 1990.

At the end of that year they received, by the Grand Prize of the show Siempre en Domingo. They performed the song Historia de amor and the ovation of the audience was tremendous.

In April 1991, Timbiriche was invited by Mrs. Verónica Castro to her program La Móvida, to celebrate the group's 10-year musical career. According to statements made by Verónica Castro herself, the assistance of that day was the most nourished that had been seen so far. Diego, Biby, Edith, Paulina, Claudio, Silvia and Erick made the audience vibrate with each of the songs: La vida es mejor cantando, Problemas, Soy un desastre, Con todos menos conmigo, Acelerar, Tú y yo somos uno mismo, Yo no soy una más, Tan sólo una mujer, Escapar de ti, Historia de amor, Eres un milagro and Me pongo mal, among others.

Of the former members of Timbiriche, the only one who attended was Benny Ibarra, accompanied by his girlfriend Celina del Villar.

Goodbye to Timbiriche

After 10 years of sharing joys, hobbies, pranks, Paulina Rubio decided to leave Band to begin her solo career.

Every deadline is met and that happened to Biby Gaytán whose time had come to leave Timbiriche and Muñecos de Papel behind, to take her first steps as a soloist, taking advantage of the experience acquired in the two groups she performed in.

By May, Timbiriche had already confirmed their participation in the first festival “Acapulco 91”, next to Roxette, Estefania of Monaco, Caty Dennis, among others; but the departure of Paulina, Biby, Edith, Erick and finally Claudio, forced them to cancel.

With seven members and only two familiar faces, Timbiriche features a new look, material, style and musical line.

To talk about Timbiriche in any of its generations, is to talk about a good musical band. Millions of albums sold, thousands of concerts and many songs in the first places of popularity over 10 years and yet, again faced a very big challenge. In 1992, the group consisted of Diego Schoening, Silvia Campos, Jean Duverger, Lorena Shelly, Tannya Velasco, Daniel Gaytán and Alexa Alvarez.

Now what changes was the band bringing? Were they still the same band that filled concerts and drove their fans crazy? Were these boys better or worse than other generations of Timbiriche? What future awaits them? Why are they wearing uniforms? Were some of the questions that popped.

Benny, Sasha, Mariana, Alix, Thalía, Eduardo, Erick, Paulina, Biby and Edith are 10 names of former members who had the band as a great school and most of them rose as soloists. After these stars left, we met a completely different  musical group.

Memo Méndez Guiu and Diego talked about the concept of Timbiriche; they went back to what old records were. Now the challenge was to make well produced music, with a deep musical atmosphere and that, however, could be very commercial. Timbiriche 11 was a hit, it showed a lot of quality in its twelve super songs.

After arduous five months of auditions, the chosen ones were: Lorena, Tannya, Daniel, Alexa and Jean, to complement Timbiriche, Second Generation.

Tannya Velasco, a girl who studied 7 years of acting, was part of a group like "Up with people", worked in the children's program "TVeo", and was now Timbiriche.

Jean gave the group a very international touch. More than a singer, he was a great dancer but with preparation he managed to do it well.

Daniel or "Mano" studied six months at the Televisa Training Center and participated in Valores Juveniles.

Lorena Shelley, the little girl, an attractive woman we used to see as a member of the Media Luna duet and who was part of some soap operas.

Alexa was a former member of a band named Fandango. Her official presentation was held at the ERES awards. Thalia was in charge of presenting them. They performed the song Tierra Dorada.

Raul Velasco presented them at Siempre en Domingo. Throughout the program that day, they presented the history of the Band through its videos. They talked about the records, changes of members, image and music. Before presenting the new generation of Timbiriche, he called the former members of the band, one by one. They sang a potpourri with some of the songs that made them popular at the time: Besos de ceniza (Mariana), Todo cambia (Eduardo), Por ti (Edith), Cómo te diré (Biby Gaytán), Princesa Tibetana (Erick), México (Paulina Rubio), La vida es mejor cantando (Sasha), Hoy tengo que decirte papá (Benny), Mírame (Alix) and Con todos menos conmigo (everyone).

Then he introduced the new members and Silvia Campos. This time, they played Tierra Dorada and Vanidosa (their first single), showing the audience their excellent choreography and professionalism.

With their new album, Timbiriche 11, they managed to place the songs Vanidosa on the popularity charts, ¡Ay amor… amor !, Piel a piel, Sólo te quiero a ti, and Tierra Dorada. Just two months after releasing album 11, they reached a gold record.

Vanidosa was crowned as the No. 1 song of the 20 most requested in Guatemala. The ex-members of Timbiriche: Alix, Eduardo, Sasha and Thalía, shared the same list in positions No. 7, 12, 19 and 20 respectively, with their hits Dama por ti, Más que alcanzar una estrella, Justo en el momento and En la intimidad.

They participated in the Acapulco ‘92 festival and were in charge of encouraging the beach audience with a concert, which they turned on with their new and old songs.

They had a busy schedule: trips, concerts, interviews, photo sessions, participation in programs such as ¡Ándale! Siempre en Domingo, Cita con el amor, among others. The new generations received them well and turned on with the songs, new rhythms and choreographies they made in their shows.

In late 1992, Timbiriche began the process of their new album, under the direction of Alejandro Zepeda (author of No seas tan cruel). Since Timbiriche 11 was a commercial album in its entirety, Alejandro Zepeda worked hard to make the music in this new album credible and well made. In addition, another objective was to create a fresh and mature concept, both musically and melodically, and with a change in the lyrics.

It was announced in the program Galardón a los Grandes, conducted by Ilse Olivo (former member of Flans), that the premiere of the new album would be in April 1993 and that it would be titled Timbiriche XII. In addition, she said that the first single Muriendo lento, would be a duet by Diego and Alexa.

The song immediately made a hit and began to be profiled, according to the presenters, as a possible number 1. Timbiriche released its new album on the program Siempre en Domingo. They were meant to close that day’s show with a great performance and they did! They sang Volver a comenzar, a duet by Tannya and Silvia, and Muriendo lento. It should be added that the choreographies of each song were excellent. Something surprising was their new look, 60’s style, with sideburns and half-grown beard for the boys, and the change of hair and makeup for the girls.

Another feature of that new album, Timbiriche XII, was that each member sang a song as a soloist and this helped for the fans to identify them individually. The album cover also surprised, as it seemed like a strange planet, with surreal and esoteric details, the same style used on the only video of the album, based on the song Muriendo lento.

Both in Fashion Magazines, as in Radio and Television Shows, there was much talk about the new concept of Timbiriche and its new song Muriendo lento, which was held for two months in the number 1 position of the popularity charts. In addition, the songs Volver a comenzar and Mira alrededor, were placed for several weeks among the 15 most played songs. Another main topic among presenters, was that it was the first lineup, after 7 years, to record two albums in a row and without changing members.

The album had very good songs, such as: No quiero perderte, Cómo pude amarte, No me dejes, Átame a tu sentimiento and Regrésame el corazón, among others.

It was presented at the Acapulco ‘93 Festival. Marco Antonio Regil was in charge of presenting the Timbiriche and Magneto collaboration performance, the two youth groups of the moment.

Four months after the release of the album, at the Luis de Llano Macedo’s Conceptos dance and singing school, Timbiriche received a gold record for more than 100,000 copies sold of their production number XII and they had little left to reach half a million. Luis de Llano himself, the creative producer of the band, was the host. After mentioning Martha Zavaleta and Raúl González as pillars of Timbiriche's professional life, he presented the seven young people, who sang live. Announced as Timbiriche Super Group, Diego, Silvia, Lorena, Tannya, Alexa, Mano and Jean, came out dressed in the style of the 60’s, with plastic clothes, lace, satin, skinny and flared pants.

To the surprise of many, and the relief of the fans, they sang live with showing they had the vocal quality they showed on their albums. In addition to presenting some of the songs of disc XII, they sang the hits of their previous album Timbiriche 11: Piel a piel, Tierra Dorada and Sólo te quiero a ti, performed with synchronized, sensual and provocative choreographies.

The concept of the group that was created 11 years earlier, changed as time went by and the members grew up, so the sextet of children who sang for the children, turned into a group of young artists who sang, acted and danced for young people.

The album Timbiriche XII gave them many satisfactions: Gold Record, the song Muriendo lento that was placed in the number one position, of the 10 most played songs in 1993. In addition, they got the 4th place for the best group in concert, the 2nd place to Best Pop group and its video Muriendo lento was ranked 6th in the category of Best video.

By the end of 1993, Timbiriche participated next to Onda Vaselina and Mijares, among others, in the recording of an album called Anímate (Cheer Up). The purpose of this album was to lift the spirits of all the people who were going through a bad time in their lives. The song that Timbiriche sang was called Qué onda contigo.

In 1994, they released a Poster-Record of Timbiriche XII, with songs from albums 11 and XII, in addition to the single Que viva México... mejor. They also participated in the album that supported the Mexican Soccer Selection for the World Cup that same year. The song they sang was called Nos vamos al mundial.

Alexa says goodbye to Timbiriche

During a concert in Monterrey, in early 1994, Alexa addressed the audience to present a song. And with that, she would announce her final performance with the band, because she was getting married.

Diego, Silvia, Tannya, Lorena, Mano and Jean, continued with their pending activities. But it was clear that Timbiriche was going through a bad time. In addition, they were not thinking of replacing Alexa.

The magazine Eres dedicated its 141st edition, Year VI, to Diego and Tannya and spoke to them and the rest of the Band about the future of Timbiriche. They assured that the Band still had a long way to go, and that they were not thinking of saying goodbye to Timbiriche. Diego commented that they still had goals to achieve (internationalization and penetration in the US market).

In May 1994 they were confirmed to appear at the Telethon in Guatemala, next to Sentidos Opuestos, Matrícula 2, Ángela Carrasco and Frances Picas, among others, and due to an accident that Diego suffered days before the Telethon, their presentation was canceled.

What began as a rumor in early 1994, could be confirmed by the end of the same year. After 13 years, Timbiriche came to an end, leaving a legacy of 12 albums, more than 140 songs, more than 30 videos, thousands of live shows and memories for all of us who had the opportunity to grow and play with their music.

Timbiriche is reunited at the Acapulco 98 festival.

Four years before, Timbiriche (integrated by Diego, Silvia, Tannya, Lorena, Alexa, Mano and Jean) closed their cycle as one of the best Spanish Pop-Rock Bands. The nostalgia for Timbiriche's music was always present and it showed on the radio stations that were still programming the group's famous songs, at each nightclub, birthday parties and Weddings, and by the fans who kept listening to each of the songs that made us Vibrate through time.

Thalía and Paulina were among those that included some of Timbiriche’s songs in their repertoire of each of their concerts.

In May 1998, Timbiriche's live performance in the Acapulco Festival was confirmed. After 13 years of having left the original Timbiriche Band lineup, we would see them together again. How will they look? What songs will they sing? Will they have the same magic together?

Michelle Vieth and Héctor Soberón were in charge of preparing the audience and the viewers of the long-awaited reunion. The Band “Kids”, produced by Luis de Llano, was responsible for heating the mood with a medley that included songs from Timbiriche.

Upon them leaving the stage, the introduction of the album Timbiriche Rock Show was heard. The song on the album Timbiriche's classics began to play and the audience began to react. Suddenly, you could hear the chords of La vida es mejor cantado and Diego, Alix, Mariana, Paulina, Benny and Sasha appeared on stage. The audience received them much better than they and the organizers of the event, expected. It was then turn for Alix, and the audience on hearing the melody of Mírame or Cuestión de tiempo, gave a great shout and it showed in Alix’s face how grateful she was. Mariana and Diego sang Sólo tú, sólo yo and the audience cheered. The euphoria was absolute when Sasha and Benny's turn came. Paulina was in charge of singing Rompecabezas and to close the first medley, Mariana sang Besos de ceniza. When it was all over, the ovation was tremendous.

Diego was the first to address the audience and the emotion could be felt in his voice. By saying that Timbiriche was not only them 6 on stage, but the entire audience that had accompanied them, made everyone applaud and shout for that recognition. Then Paulina addressed the audience and presented Corro, vuelo, me acelero, the last song that the original members sang together, causing the audience to catch on even more.

Michelle Vieth and Héctor Soberón, handed them a medal of recognition for their participation in the festival. And Timbiriche's music invaded the environment again. It was Benny's turn with the song Hoy tengo que decirte papá. People got up from their seats and helped Diego sing the song Soy un desastre y Tú y yo somos uno mismo. Diego let the audience sing a part of the choir and it was notorious that night was one of the best in the Acapulco 98 festival. Then came the song Juntos in which they asked the audience to applaud as loudly as possible and the response was immediate.

It was obvious that the audience did not want Timbiriche to leave and they pleased them with an acoustic medley: Amor para ti, Ojos de miel, Vivirás, Somos amigos and Mexico.

It was amazing to see the audience so turned on by this reunion. They were very happy for the response obtained and confirmed the nostalgia that existed to see Timbiriche again on stage.

The Tour: Siempre juntos (Always together).

By October of 1998 the tour of the Timbiriche’s Reunion had been confirmed with the addition that Erick, who is considered part of the original alignment of the Band, would be part of it. Without Paulina, they released the promotional campaign for the Tour that they called Siempre Juntos (Always Together).

The participation of Paulina was confirmed at the beginning of November.

Monterrey, the first accomplices

The Siempre Juntos Tour, began in Monterrey on November 18 at the Fundidora Theater. The media spread word that the first concert was the worst, because they forgot song lyrics and choreographies. In addition, there were failures with the equipment they used. The audience seemed not to care about the comments and they packed the venue again the next day.

The next challenge was the National Auditorium at Mexico City, with a capacity for 10,000 people. Originally 4 dates with 6 shows were agreed. By November 28, they learned that due to the demand for tickets in the Auditorium, they would be expanded to 16 shows.

It was amazing to see the people attending the concerts; everyone shouted, sang and participated in the choreographies. The most surprising thing was to realize that there was more than one generation gathered at each concert. Regardless of the number of generations, we all were baptized by Paulina as The Timbiriche Generation.

On the stage, arranged with balloons of various sizes and cubes, 7 children appear playing. After deciding that they would play singing they take off their clothes to reveal yellow and blue overalls underneath. The music began and in the background a shout was heard: Let's play!. The cubes opened and Diego, Alix, Mariana, Paulina, Benny, Sasha and Erick appeared on stage and the euphoria was total. They interpreted important songs of the musical history of the Band from disc 1 to 12. They even sang songs of albums in which some of them had not participated. They gave 20 shows at the National Auditorium, breaking the record set by Luis Miguel (17 shows).

On December 5, they were part of the Telethon cast and brought the audience together at the Azteca Stadium. They sang several of their songs included in the concerts and people sang with them. Sasha, addressed the audience and announced that Timbiriche would donate the earnings of one show from the Auditorium to the Telethon.

And so they went on tour. At some point, Alix had to leave due to her pregnancy. Edith Márquez was thought of to replace Alix, but she could not do it, due to problems caused by her record label. According to statements by Edith herself, she would have loved to be part of the Reunion.

During Timbiriche's show on January 16 in León, Guanajuato, Paulina invited Alexa Lozano to the stage, who was part of the last Timbiriche Generation. With Diego, they interpreted Timbiriche's last success in their musical career: Muriendo Lento.

During the month of January, the promotion for La úlitmo parada (The Last Stop) began; it was a concert that Timbiriche would offer at the Foro Sol, in the Hermanos Rodríguez Autodrome on February 27 and in which they would say goodbye to their fans, after a short 3-month tour. Many people doubted they were going to fill up that venue, considering that only personalities such as Pink Floyd and U2 had appeared there. To the surprise of many, more than 55,000 people attended the party. In addition to the songs they sang in all the concerts, they included Y la fiesta comenzó, Está despierto and La fuerza del amor. The last two songs were included in the album TIMBIRICHE - The concert, which was recorded totally live in the National Auditorium.

The Siempre Juntos Tour lasted for another month, repeating once at the Foro Sol and visiting Guatemala on March 6.

ERES magazine organized its annual awards ceremony for outstanding singers in 1998. The event was held at the National Auditorium and Timbiriche was in charge of opening the Show with their song Está despierto. They were awarded the prize: To the trajectory.

The Siempre Juntos Tour was presented in: Monterrey (2 shows), Anahuac del Norte, Guadalajara (2 shows), Querétaro, Colegio de las Vizcaínas, Aguascalientes, Puebla, Veracruz, Morelia, León, Villa Hermosa, Mérida, Cuernavaca, Toluca, Ciudad Obregón, Hermosillo, Mexicali, Anaheim in Los Angeles, California, Tijuana, San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas, Tampico, Guatemala, Reynosa, Saltillo, Torreón, Chihuahua, Ciudad Juárez, Culiacán and Coatzacoalcos. In addition, the Telethon, National Auditorium (20 shows) and Foro Sol (2 shows).

Timbiriche's last appearance was at the Hard Rock. Without Paulina (she was in Spain) and Diego (he was involved in his first solo production), Mariana, Alix, Benny, Erick and Sasha offered an acoustic mini concert. Accompanied by a trio of guitars, a bass and a saxophone, they sang Con todos menos conmigo, Besos de ceniza, Princesa Tibetana, Muriendo lento and Mírame.

At the end of the mini-concert their record company gave them five gold records for the sale of 250,000 copies of their double album: Timbiriche - The concert.

Timbiriche's 25 year tour

In 2007, Benny, Sasha, Alix, Mariana, Diego and Erik were together once again to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the birth of the great Timbiriche Band.

Although in the whole life of the Band there were many members and a lot of talent, it was them who were the base of the original group, so it was them got together to celebrate. Paulina would not be in the entire project, for her personal commitments, but it was hoped that she could be integrated into one of the several projects that were included in the celebration: album recording, re-editions, a tour and special shows that we would gradually find out about.

Beyond the names, there were the songs, everyone who would attend the show could expect many surprises and unlike the shows of 9 years before, this time it was not a reunion, but a celebration where we would have fun and be emotional, because it would be a goodbye forever, from Timbiriche.

The tour started successfully and visited many cities of the Mexican Republic, the United States, Central and South America; they produced 3 albums and the recorded 3 unpublished tracks: Vuelvo a comenzar, Atado a ti and Domar el aire.

Timbiriche managed to break its own record in the National Auditorium with more than 20 consecutive shows, with massive crowds. In addition, they performed more than 30 concerts throughout the Mexican Republic closing on Monday, May 5, at the Foro Sol Arena in Mexico. They still had a special participation on May 17 at the Fundación Alas concert, for the children in need, in the capital Zócalo.

To round off the celebrations and close the cycle, the filmmaker Carlos Marcovich, made a documentary feature film about Timbiriche, entitled La misma piedra (The same stone) that premiered on Friday, November 21, 2008, in theaters.

The musical

Alejandro Gou got in 2010, the rights to adapt Timbiriche's songs for a musical show. Timbiriche, the musical premiered at the end of April 2010. The show included 50 songs of the band and the story talked about the human crisis when turning 30 years old, with the perspectives of 7 young people that had nothing to do with the life of the original members of the band. After eight months, Timbiriche El Musical ended its season.

35th Anniversary: The Third Reunion

On April 30, 2017, Timbiriche celebrated 35 years of its foundation. On June 20, 2017, Benny, Sasha, Mariana, Alix, Diego and Erik convened a press conference at the National Auditorium of Mexico City to announce the official return of the band. Timbiriche went on tour starting on September 13, 2017 at the National Auditorium of Mexico City. The tour lasted until 2018, visiting various cities in Mexico and Latin America, and from which the double album Timbiriche Juntos was recorded, featuring a DVD of the shows, including a new live version of the Don Diablo song next to their artistic godfather Miguel Bosé, and the unpublished song El Ciclo.
